The R36XX, released in March 2025, keeps the 3.5-inch IPS panel of the R36S: 640 x 480 pixels in 4:3, the native shape of most retro home consoles. The body has the same footprint as the R36S.
The change is inside and on the back. A 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi module is soldered to the board, so there is no dongle to add, and several testers found the rear triggers more curved and quieter to click. The chip stays the RK3326 with 1 GB of RAM.

R36XX: good questions
Does the R36XX have Wi-Fi?
Yes. A 2.4 GHz module is soldered to the board, so no dongle is needed. Depending on the system and the emulator, it serves for updates, achievements and play over your local network. No Bluetooth, and no promise of online play.
R36XX or R36S: what is the difference?
They share the 3.5-inch 640 x 480 screen, the RK3326 chip, 1 GB of RAM and the same body size. The R36XX adds built-in Wi-Fi, a redesigned front and curved rear triggers. The R36S is on sale at FunGrip now.
Can I plug a USB controller into the R36XX?
Do not count on it. Wi-Fi and the OTG port share the same bus: a USB stick cuts the Wi-Fi, and a USB controller is not recognized, according to published tests.
Is a charger included?
No wall charger. A USB-C cable comes in the box; use a standard 5 V adapter of at least 1.5 A, not a fast charger.
